5/24/2024 Farm update
This week we finished planting here at Gingerich Farms. The crew is now transitioning to post emergence spraying for the first planted crops and side dressing nitrogen on the corn. Currently it is raining and more is expected on Sunday.
5/8/2024 Farm update
We have been able to plant a few fields of corn between the rain storms last week. The strip till corn fields currently are drying out better then the soybean fields where we need to cultivate so soybean planting has been at a stand still.
April 29 – Farm Update
2.5”-3” of rain this past weekend has stooped all field activities in Central IL. The water table seems to finally be full as there is standing water in the fields again. The first planted corn and soybeans are starting to emerge now that the temperature is warmer....

This week the warm weather dried out fields enough to allow some fieldwork at Gingerich Farms. Our focus was on chemical applications to prepare for soybean planting. We did plant a few fields of corn to mid week but stopped as the temperatures got colder. The soybean...

February has been another mild month this winter in Central IL. The trucks are hauling grain to the market and the shop is busy working on equipment and preparing for the planting season!

Soybean Harvest
This week has been busy with soybean harvesting as all the soybeans are now ready to be cut. Chisels and striptill bars have been doing tillage as the fields are harvested and fertilized for the 2024 crops.
